What is the use of Amoxycillin and Clavulanate.?
Amoxycillin is a penicillin antibiotic. Clavulanate potassium helps to stop certain types of bacteria from becoming resistant to Amoxycillin. Amoxycillin is used to treat a large variety of bacterial infections. This medicine is a penicillin-type antibiotic. Its function is to prevent the growth of bacteria. This type of antibiotic treats only bacterial infections. It is used to treat ear and lung infections in children.
The combination of Amoxy and clav acid is used to treat certain types of infections caused by bacteria, including infections of the ears, lungs, skin, and urinary tract. Amoxycillin is in a class of medicine called penicillin-like antibiotics. It’s stopping the growth of bacteria. It will not work in viral infections (such as common cold and flu).
By itself, Clavulanate potassium has weak antibacterial property, but when it used together with amoxycillin, it extends its strength so that it may be used to treat infections caused by beta-lactamases producing organisms. Side effects of Amoxycillin and Clavulanate Potassium.
Get medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction to amoxicillin and Clavulanate like (hives, difficult breathing, swelling in your face or throat) or a severe skin reaction (fever, sore throat, skin pain, burning eyes, red or purple skin rash)
Call your doctor if you have any of these types of symptoms.
Severe stomach pain, diarrhea that is watery or bloody (even occurs months after your last dose); Pale or yellowish skin, dark colored urine, fever, confusion and weakness; Loss of appetite, upper stomach pain; Easy bruising or bleeding.
What to avoid After eating a high-fat meal. Avoid using amoxycillin and potassium Clavulanate at the same time. This will make it more difficult for your body to absorb the medicine. Antibiotic medicines may cause diarrhea, which may be a sign of a new infection. If you suffer from diarrhea that is watery or bloody, call your doctor before taking any anti-diarrhea medicine.
What other drugs will affect Amoxycillin and Clavulanate potassium?
